Warriors' Experience Prevails
The Golden State Warriors defeated the Sacramento Kings 112-98 in Game 1 of their Western Conference Quarterfinal series on Tuesday night at Chase Center. The Warriors were led by Stephen Curry's 27 points, while Jalen Brunson added 20 points and Klay Thompson chipped in 19.
The Kings started the game hot, shooting 50% from the field and 40% from three-point range in the first quarter. Keegan Murray led the way with 14 points, including 4-of-7 shooting from beyond the arc. The Warriors, meanwhile, struggled to find their rhythm early on, shooting just 38% from the field and 25% from three-point range. However, the Warriors were able to cut the Kings' lead to 27-25 by the end of the first.
The Warriors continued to chip away at the Kings' lead in the second quarter, and they eventually tied the game at 48-48 with just over four minutes to play before halftime. The Warriors took a 53-48 lead into halftime thanks to a three-pointer by Thompson.
The Warriors extended their lead to 10 points in the third quarter, and they held on to win by 14 points in the end. The Warriors were able to slow down the Kings' offense in the second half, holding them to just 38% shooting from the field and 25% shooting from three-point range.
The Warriors will host the Kings in Game 2 of the series on Thursday night at Chase Center.
