Sheffield United 3-0 Chelsea: Blades Move into Top Six

Premier League

Saturday, 11 July 2020

David McGoldrick broke his Premier League duck with two goals as Sheffield United dented Champions League-chasing Chelsea with a 3-0 victory at Bramall Lane. The Blades move into the top six with the win and strengthen their hopes of European qualification.

Chelsea, meanwhile, remain fourth but could be overtaken by Manchester United if they beat Crystal Palace on Saturday night. The Blues failed to register a shot on target in the first half and were punished by McGoldrick's opener just after the half-hour mark.

Oliver McBurnie doubled the lead just after the break, before McGoldrick added his second late on to seal the win. Chelsea will be concerned by their performance, which was well below the standard they have set in recent weeks.

Sheffield United, on the other hand, have now won three of their last four games and will be confident of finishing the season strongly. Chris Wilder's side have been one of the surprise packages of the season and could yet qualify for Europe.
