Gareth Southgate: A Manager's Journey

Early Life and Playing Career

Gareth Southgate was born on 3 September 1970 in Watford, England. He began his football career as a youth player with Crystal Palace before making his senior debut in 1988. Southgate went on to play for a number of clubs, including Aston Villa, Middlesbrough, and England's national team.

Managerial Career

After retiring from playing, Southgate began his managerial career in 2006 with Middlesbrough's reserve team. He was appointed manager of the first team in 2009 and led them to the UEFA Cup Final in 2006. In 2016, Southgate was appointed interim manager of the England men's national team following the departure of Sam Allardyce.
