Pete Buttigieg was born on January 19, 1982, in South Bend, Indiana. He graduated from Harvard College and the University of Oxford and served as a naval officer in Afghanistan.

Political Career

Buttigieg entered politics in 2011, running for mayor of South Bend, his hometown. He won the election in 2011 and became the youngest mayor of a city with more than 100,000 people.

During his tenure as mayor, Buttigieg implemented a number of progressive policies, such as raising the minimum wage, expanding access to affordable housing, and creating a new innovation district.
